"I am not committed," Brett Steverson said. "Feel free to put that out there."

Despite an online rumor that he had made his verbal commitment to Duke, Steverson says his mind is open to any collegiate program willing to make an offer.

"Somehow it got out there that I was committed to Duke," Steverson explained. "It was completely false and incorrect. So, a couple of teams took me off their board and I didn't know why.

"[My recruitment] has recently picked back up," he continued. "I'm just waiting to see what happens."

Steverson holds an offer from Duke, along with Colorado State and Troy. He has also expressed an interest in gaining an offer from Maryland.

"That would be great," Steverson said of the potential. "Anybody that thinks enough of me to offer a [collegiate] opportunity is worth looking into. Anyone else who wants to offer me would get the same attention as whoever else would."

Although National Signing Day is less than two months away, Steverson remains confident that his recruitment will continue to gain momentum.

"I know it's late," he admitted. "A lot of teams are starting to wrap up [their recruiting classes]; they have other commitments at this point. But like I said, I'll be happy to hear from anybody that gives me an opportunity."

Steverson lists Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Clemson as schools he's dreamt of playing for. "But realistically, that might not be something that's going to happen now," he said. "If it did, that'd be an incredible opportunity."

Without yet making a verbal commitment, Steverson also admits his interest in Duke. "If they are still completely interested, I am too," he said. "I think they are."

Though he hasn't yet set dates for his official visits, Steverson would like to wrap up the recruiting process in the coming weeks.

"I haven't set any in stone, but in January, I'll set the dates," he said. "I'd like to visit whoever is showing me the most interest. I'm not going to go visit a school that I'm not realistically going to play for.

"Whoever shows me the most interest is where I will go play football."
